Announcing the spring 2020 theme!

Get ready to be tangled in a jungle reading adventure students are sure to love.

Book Fair Jungle: Elephants, Tigers, and Books, OH MY!

Escape into the wilds of reading with the Scholastic Book Fairs® spring 2020 elementary school theme, Book Fair Jungle: Elephants, Tigers, and Books, OH MY! The whole school community will love exploring the newest books, engaging in Fair contests, and shopping together amidst an exotic jungle theme. It’s the next great reading adventure!

Word-of-mouth advertising travels fast when you captivate your school with fun jungle designs adorning your Fair. Create fun social media photo opportunities with twisted paper vines, lush green grass, and large-leafed plants with cardboard tigers peeking from behind. Play jungle nature sounds in the background!

Invite everyone to a ROAR for Reading Family Event and add a whole new audience with a Wild About You Grand Event designed for grandparents, or someone “grand” in your students’ lives. Keep students engaged with the Fair every day by planning themed reading activities, contests, and challenges. Set a goal with a fun incentive – if students reach it, the principal will wear a tiger tail for an entire day. Display an All for Books™ Tusks Versus Fangs Coin Challenge in the Fair, encouraging students to use loose change to vote for their favorite jungle animal – elephant or tiger!

A great theme can help make your Book Fair even more exciting and memorable. With a few thematic decorations and activities, you can transform your Fair into a celebratory and engaging reading event for your entire school community. When planning your theme décor, displays, activities and special events, please consider a culturally sensitive approach to your creativity. If your ideas originate from another culture and you want to incorporate them into your event activities or décor, please consider accuracy in depicting any culture or identity. Consider organizing your activities or décor around geographies, environments, or wildlife rather than groups of people. This will help you to avoid promoting concepts and activities that reinforce historical stereotypes or marginalize a particular ethnicity, race, nationality, heritage, culture or identity. Themes offer a wonderful opportunity to honor and explore different cultures and parts of the world. Being mindful of your themed activities and how they may affect others will ensure everyone feels welcomed and included.
